秦乐府钟为青铜所铸,带有鼻钮，通高13.3厘米, 两铣间7.2厘米，鼓间5.8厘米, 舞广6厘米×4.8厘米。虽在地下埋藏了两千余年,出土后钟体上错金银的花纹却清晰而完整，显示出豪华典雅的风范。钟的钲部和鼓部为错金蟠纹,篆间及钟带为错金流云纹，钟带为错银流云纹，不同的纹饰相间排列，相互衬托，更显示出外型的精美。钟的内侧还有细如发丝的阴线云纹，我们以往发现的编钟内壁均为素面，不装饰花纹，而这口乐府钟内壁却刻有阴线云纹，在考古上极为罕见。那么如此精美的纹饰，是怎样制作的呢？秦乐府钟采用的是嵌错结合工艺，就是在铸造好的钟体上用金银丝镶嵌成花纹，然后把器表磨光，使花纹清晰，线条鲜明。铸造如此纤细的花纹，一是制模不易，二是烧铸时铜斗的温度难以掌握。若温度偏高容易把横的纹路冲垮，偏低则铜斗流动不畅，花纹铸不完整，此钟的花纹基本完整、清楚，令人惊异。充分显示了秦代高超的青铜冶铸水平和工艺水平，为进一步研究古代错金银及镶嵌工艺提供了珍贵的实物资料。
